Yes. You complete a short medical intake, then meet a doctor licensed in Mississippi over video. Compounded semaglutide (the active ingredient in Wegovy and Ozempic), available as once-daily oral drops or a weekly injection, and compounded tirzepatide (the active ingredient in Zepbound and Mounjaro) as a weekly injection. The injections also contain an added ingredient, such as a B vitamin, that the brand products do not. Your doctor recommends the medication, form, and dose that fit your health history and goals.

To pursue coverage instead you would need a provider who accepts your plan and prescribes a medication it covers — the FDA-approved brands, not a compounded preparation. Where each programme stands:

1. Mississippi Medicaid: Covered. Qualifying means prior authorization at a BMI of 30, or 27 to 29 with at least one weight-related condition, and Mississippi Medicaid does not impose copays or other cost sharing on beneficiaries.
2. Medicare: Coverage may still be possible through the federal GLP-1 Bridge: a $50 copay for Wegovy, Zepbound or Foundayo through December 31, 2027, for Part D enrollees with a BMI of 35 or more, or lower with specific heart, stroke, artery, blood-pressure, kidney or prediabetes conditions. Type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe sleep apnea and MASH are covered through regular Part D instead.

Because the Board of Medical Licensure asks for one. Its telemedicine rule provides that store-and-forward review may be used to enhance, but never replace, real-time provider-patient interaction, and adds that a simple questionnaire without an appropriate examination is a violation. Mississippi does not require that the visit be in person — but it does require that a real one happen.

Two separate credentials, not one. An out-of-state pharmacy needs a Mississippi nonresident pharmacy permit to ship into the state at all, and a distinct compounding certificate from the Board of Pharmacy before it may compound for Mississippi patients.
