GLP-1 telehealth in Florida: how it works.
Telehealth rules vary by state, and so does how our service works. Here is exactly what to expect in Florida — with the public records to verify our licensure.
- In Florida, a licensed physician reviews your medical intake online and decides whether a video visit is needed.
- James Simmons, MD is licensed to practice in Florida (license ME183513). Verify it yourself with the Florida Board of Medicine (FL DOH, Division of Medical Quality Assurance).
- Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are still prescribed lawfully, in narrower cases than before the FDA shortages ended. Is compounded tirzepatide still legal in 2026? explains the federal rules with the FDA’s own dates, and how to check any provider.
Law and coverage answers checked against primary sources on September 14, 2026.
Can I get a GLP-1 prescription online in Florida?
Yes. You complete a short medical intake online, and a doctor licensed in Florida personally reviews it — Florida's weight-loss prescribing rule calls for an initial evaluation including a physical and complete history before prescribing, and Florida's telehealth law drops the physical examination only when a telehealth evaluation is enough to diagnose and treat you, so your doctor may message you with questions or ask you to book a video visit. If treatment is appropriate for you, your prescription is filled by a licensed US pharmacy and shipped overnight to your door anywhere in Florida. You may not need to visit a clinic in person.
How much does GLP-1 treatment cost in Florida?
Semaglutide injections start at $135/month and tirzepatide at $169/month. The price includes the medication itself, your doctor visits, ongoing medical supervision, and overnight refrigerated shipping. There is no membership fee, and the intake and your doctor's first review or visit are free: you pay nothing until you choose to start medication.
Do you take insurance?
Not at this time. For compounded medicine we charge one all-in monthly price with the medication, doctor visits, and shipping included, so there is no prior authorization. Brand-name care is $28/month for the doctor, and you buy the medicine from the maker's pharmacy. HSA and FSA cards are accepted at checkout, and we provide itemized receipts and a Letter of Medical Necessity on request.
Which medications do you prescribe?
Compounded semaglutide (the active ingredient in Wegovy and Ozempic) and compounded tirzepatide (the active ingredient in Zepbound and Mounjaro), each as a weekly injection. Tirzepatide and semaglutide injections may contain nothing added or a B vitamin. Your doctor recommends the medication, form, and dose that fit your health history and goals.
Who prescribes my medication?
James Simmons, MD, our medical director, is licensed in Florida and board-certified in emergency medicine (ABEM). He personally reviews your intake, meets with you over video when either of you wants a visit, and supervises your treatment over time.
Where in Florida do you serve?
All of Florida. Care starts online and medication ships overnight statewide, so care is the same whether you're in Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, or a town without a weight-management clinic nearby.
Does Medicare or Florida Medicaid cover this?
Not through Gentle Health. We do not bill Medicare, Florida Medicaid or private insurance, and everyone pays the prices shown on this page. To pursue coverage instead you would need a provider who accepts your plan and prescribes a medication it covers — the FDA-approved brands, not a compounded preparation. Where each programme stands:
- Florida Medicaid: Not covered for weight loss. The statewide Preferred Drug List has no weight-loss drug class at all; coverage exists only for type-2-diabetes indications, behind prior authorization.
- Medicare: Coverage may still be possible through the federal GLP-1 Bridge: a $50 copay for Wegovy, Zepbound or Foundayo through December 31, 2027, for Part D enrollees with a BMI of 35 or more, or lower with specific heart, stroke, artery, blood-pressure, kidney or prediabetes conditions. Type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe sleep apnea and MASH are covered through regular Part D instead.
What does Florida require of a pharmacy that compounds my injection?
A permit specific to that activity. Under § 465.0158, a nonresident pharmacy registered in Florida under § 465.0156, or an outsourcing facility, must hold a Florida nonresident sterile compounding permit before it may ship, mail, deliver or dispense a compounded sterile product into the state — and that permit is publicly verifiable.
Serving all of Florida
